MONITORING MACHINE TOOLS MADE EASY WITH NEW MONITRAN RANGE
Monitran Ltd, a world leader in vibration measurement technology, has launched a new range of low-profile vibration sensors specifically designed to offer both OEMs and end-users the perfect vibration monitoring device for machine tool applications, such as CNC machining, spark eroders, grinders, lathes and presses.
Offering excellent levels of efficiency, high accuracy, ease of installation and zero maintenance, the new range is the most cost-effective solution to vibration monitoring in machine tools available, allowing potential performance problems to be predicted and corrected before they become critical.
Based on the company’s highly successful MTN/1830 accelerometer range, the new sensors comprise a compact design and a variety of mounting options to facilitate easy installation. Unlike traditional accelerometers which are typically larger and offer top-entry connection only, the new Monitran range can be supplied with a choice of side-entry and top-entry connections for easy installation on motors, drive assemblies, gearboxes and ball screws, often located in the ‘heart’ of the machine tool.
The new design allows the accelerometers to be mounted on flat or curved surfaces, and offers extremely accurate readings in even the most demanding conditions.
In addition to the benefits associated with installation, the fit-and-forget nature of the range means the accelerometers are maintenance-free, saving end-users considerable money on repairs and replacements, while minimising downtime.
Ideal for use with data collectors, PLCs and a wide variety of control and monitoring equipment, the products in the new range are sealed to IP68 and constructed from robust stainless steel, making them resistant to all common oils, greases and coolants, further reinforcing their suitability for machine tool applications.
Furthermore, with sensitivity of 100mV/g ± 10% nominal at 80 Hz, traverse sensitivity of less than 5%, a frequency response of 2 Hz to 8kHz ± 10%, and a wide temperature range of -10ºC to +140ºC, the new accelerometers offer excellent levels of performance.
