High Wycombe, United Kingdom – 18th February 2009 – Monitran, a world leader in the development and manufacture of sensors for the measurement of vibration and displacement, has appointed James Holland as Engineering Coordinator.
Holland (43) was previously a Senior Electronics Engineer with Ultra Electronics, which specialises in the design, manufacture and support of electronic and electromechanical systems, sub-systems and products for defence, security and aerospace applications worldwide. Holland is therefore no stranger to designing fit-for-purpose products for use in harsh environments.
As Engineering Coordinator, Holland will be the interface between Monitran’s design engineers (hardware and software), Monitran Technology (the company’s ‘blue sky’ R&D arm), QA and production – plus Monitran’s customers and suppliers. Commenting on Holland’s appointment, Operations Director Andy Anthony says: “We’re delighted to have James on board. He has a vast amount of experience to bring to Monitran as an OEM of sensors and also to Monitran’s valued customers.”
Holland is also set to play a crucial role in Monitran’s consultancy services which, since late last year and in the face of the current economic climate, have been increasing in direct response to demand from customers. Holland comments: “Monitran’s customers appreciate that condition-based predictive maintenance, particularly when it includes vibration monitoring, is the most efficient way to keep their factories and facilities fully operational. However, that ‘efficiency’ only comes through the appropriate use of the most suitable sensors - which often need to be deployed in extremely harsh environments.”
Anthony concludes: “With times undeniably hard in the industry, our customers are now coming to us for far more than products alone, and we are happy to provide additional advice and guidance regarding installation free of charge. We’re also undertaking formal consultancy. Furthermore, we’re a well-established and recognised company and we’ve certainly been around the block a few times. In fact, many of our customers will remember us being around to help them through the last recession in the early 1990s. Back then, the key to survival was making the best use of technology and of people. With James on board as our Engineering Coordinator we feel we can play a significant part in keeping UK industry running. In fact, that is our advertising message for the recession: Keep Running with Monitran!”
